Living the Visual Life
April 30, 2009Yesterday, while browsing the internet for some inspiration, I came across Jamie Livingston’s Polaroid a Day website. Every single day for 18 years, Jamie took a Polaroid chronicling his life. One Polaroid, every day, until he died of cancer in 1997. Friends, family, life, love, death, quirky, extraordinary, mundane and ordinary, it’s all there. It’s a treasure trove of this man’s life. I found it be incredibly beautiful in its simplicity and extraordinary in the sheer scope of the project.
So here I am, on an otherwise uneventful Thursday afternoon, and I want to start my own photo journey. One photo, every single day, for the next 365 days. The photos I end up taking might sometimes be something really special, but more often than not, I think it’ll be something completely ordinary. But it’ll always be something.
So here we go, April 30th, 2009: I need a haircut.

I can’t imagine having hair that long! It bugs me when it gets up to my shoulders, so I wonder how anyone can stand it. Good luck with the new project!
