I love dogs.
LOVE.
I don’t think I can emphasis this enough. So it’s always such a treat when my couples bring along their pups to photoshoots, or even to the wedding. Valerie and Jason brought along Maverick, this cute little guy.

And we had a great time romping through the lush areas around Sutro Heights.

Then we headed over to Golden Gate Park where the sun decided to peep through the fog.

Favorite image from the shoot. Just loving how peaceful and light-filled this moment is, and that’s so perfectly in tune with Valerie & Jason’s warm personalities.

Roaming around the Presidio on a foggy San Francisco morning. I think to live in San Francisco, at some point you just have to throw up your arms in defeat and just embrace the fog. Love the fog. Let the fog become your friend. And always carry a spare jacket.
Sunnie & Cory took me to some of their favorite spots around the Presidio and obligingly snuggled and laughed and shared stories while we explored the area.

Love Sunnie’s bright pink top against the dewy green backdrop.

This was a special little spot to Sunnie & Cory because this is where they got engaged! I love shooting at locations that are meaningful to my couples.

Not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination, but an early morning spent in the company of good people, in a beautiful location, making pretty pictures? That I can definitely do.

love the session and I have to ask, where is that boat? (our new daughter’s name is Edith
Gorgeous shots, Hannah… love the old boat and truck!
Really like the colors in this session.
Love these pictures and the location is gorgeous. Well done.
Can you please advise where these photos were taken?
Standing in the middle of the street in bustling downtown San Francisco. Dangerous? Maybe. Illegal? Probably. Worth it to get amazing photos? Definitely! Had a great time roaming around the Financial District and the Embarcadero with Bryan and Liz. It was one of the first really beautiful days we’d had in the City after days and weeks of rain.

We moved on to beautiful golden gate park just as the sun was setting. Liz & Bryan brought along these huuuge balloons. Where can you even get such gigantic balloons? I love it when my couples add little things to their shoot to make it their own.

Yay!
hot!!
Amazing!!!!! You two look HOT haha
Film has been making a major comeback in the last few years which I think is such a wonderful thing and I’ve been itching to do more film work lately.
I had my first black and white film class in the 4th grade and I fell in love immediately. Developing my own film was probably the highlight of that whole year for me. Fast forward 10 years and I was spending hours locked away in USC’s film lab, developing my negatives, making large prints, and listening to Elliot Smith on repeat while I worked away in that cool dark space. I have a longer history with film than I do with digital, but sometimes it’s easy to forget that and think of film as something of the past. I’ve been playing around with a Contax 645 lately and absolutely loving the results so far.
Here are some of my favorite film images from the shoot I did was the incredible Anh and her lovely husband. Anh runs one of my favorite fashion blogs: 9to5Chic. It was such a treat to meet and photograph Anh, whose blog I’d been stalking for awhile now. Check out her blog for some amazing outfit inspirations!
It’s a rare woman who can so effortlessly pull of an outfit like this… Honestly, if I could, I would steal Anh away and force her to be my personal stylist!

I knew Anh would put together a super stylish outfit so I wanted to contrast that chic beauty with a super urban and grungy background.

They were even willing to brave the underside of a freeway for me. We had to keep a look out for trains but we managed to get some amazing shots from here.

Looove this next set! Anh can move so easily from outfit to outfit. Classy chic one moment and bohemian casual the next.

We finished off the day at Sutro Heights and watched the sun fall into the ocean. One of my favorite things about San Francisco is how we have so many different landscapes right within a few miles of each other. Anyone from the Bay Area who hasn’t visited the Sutro Heights/Baths area absolutely has to, it’s stunning!

Anh & Matthew, thank you for spending the afternoon with me, it was a blast!

Love the shots under the freeway. Very unique location. Places like these make photographers shots a bit more original.
Beautiful shots of Anh & Matthew!! The lighting and scenary are so fantastic too!
Beautiful — and film leaves little margin for error!
